Tributes have been paid following the death of a co-owner of a popular bar.

The team at Cuckoo in Prestwich announced the "sudden" death of Mike Price, 45, in an Instagram post yesterday evening, Tuesday.

Mike’s family and the team at Cuckoo described the Bury New Road bar’s founder as a "visionary" and the "heart and soul" of the venue, adding, “ we love you so much Mike”.

In a statement, the family and Cuckoo team said: “With heavy hearts, we’re devastated to announce the sudden and profound loss of our beloved Mike, the visionary founder and heart and soul of Cuckoo.

“Mike was a huge part of the Prestwich community, as well as a loving son, friend and devoted father to his two cherished girls, with an unbelievable passion for music, sport and life.

“The Cuckoo team and all Mike’s family are taking enormous comfort in the outpouring of love and memories from those who knew him.

"In this difficult time, we ask for kindness and privacy as Mike’s family, friends and colleagues process this tragic loss.”

The news prompted tributes to pour in from residents and businesses who gave their condolences and shared their memories with Mike.

Chip shop Chips @ No.8 wrote: “Devastated and heartbroken to hear the news this morning.

"His legacy is all around us. Prestwich wouldn’t be the same without his vision.

The Crooked Man Bar and Bar 5 which wrote: “So sorry to hear the sad news, sending all out love and thoughts to the family.”
