A TRAINING group has enlisted the help of Bury College to further develop the knowledge of two managers through an apprenticeship programme.

Karen Salisbury and Heather Ogden are nearing the end of their Level 3 Employment Related Services apprenticeships with Bolton-based company The Education Training Partnership.

As part of the programme, the pair were given help to gain additional skills to help with their job roles.

The apprenticeship is aimed at those working within the employment related services sector and for those who are helping to improve the lives of others by listening,

The Education Training Partnership, which has been in operation since 2007, deals with work experience and alternative provision placements for young people looking to get into employment. The business works with Bolton Local Authority, The Big Lottery and Youth Contract Extension as well as working in partnership with training providers, organisations and colleges within Greater Manchester.

Operations Manager Karen joined the business seven years ago and is responsible for working with 18-24 year olds to help them find employment. Working in partnership with Youth Contract Extension, Job Centre Plus and Connexions, Karen secures work experience contracts, talent matches young people to placement opportunities and helps young people secure employment.

Karen said of the 18 month apprenticeship programme: “The apprenticeship has been brilliant, we have been given lots of support and extra tutorials if required.”

Heather, who has been at the company for four years and undertakes the job role as Project Manager, she is responsible for working with 14 to17 year olds to help find work experience placements and support the progression of individuals. Heather also has close working relationships with secondary schools and sixth forms across Greater Manchester. Heather added: “Myself and Karen chose to complete the apprenticeship as part of our continued Professional development. The apprenticeship programme has meant we are up-to-date on law changes which means we are on the top of our game and can use the skills we have gained in our job roles.”
