Our Treasurer Linda Taylor gave an insight into a recent holiday with her programme "A American Dream". Having been invited to a wedding in Wisconsin decided to make it into a holiday. Opening with Wedding March "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring" by Bach. Moving on to Boston we heard Ancient & Honorable music for windband composed by Sousa for the Ancient & Honourable Artillary Co 1924 at their request and includes Auld Lang Syne their marching song.Kenny Balls rendition of American Patrol brought memories of walking through a local park and heard a local Jazz Band. Now onto Manhatten where they heard Beethoven's Violin Concerto from which we heard the Rondo Allegretto and part of Appalachian Spring by Brooklyn boy Aaron Copland followed by Symphony no1 by American composer Roy Harris and "The River" from the Hudson River Suite by Grofe a reminder of crossing a bridge over the Hudson River and next the Largo from Dvorak's New World Symphony followed by Overture and all that Jazz from the show Chicago they visited on a rainy day. Linda ended her musical journey with the rousing Stars and Stripes for Ever by Sousa. A spledid end to a programme full of contrasts and fully enjoyed by the members.

Our next programme on 16 March is Murder Will Out, presented by members Joan Hilton & Stella Harrison.

23 Symphony at Dawn. Ann Hopkinson.

Will you put this report in your clubs section please.

Many thanks J.S.
