The members of Prestwich Camera Club came together on Tuesday 6th March for the third internal competition of 2012. This week judge Harry Emmett of Accrington Camera Club was given the unenviable task of reviewing the pictorial and portrait digital submissions, expertly projected by Graeme and Bobby.

First up was the pictorial section with a varied 14 entries from scenic landscapes to creative images. In third place was ‘Goth Valentine’ by Eileen Craig, a beautifully photographed red rose, set against a rolling black silk backdrop. Second place went to Michael Oates with ‘Three Vases’, a superbly lit and constructed still-life with excellent texture. First place went to Chris Cunliffe with ‘Coloured Glass Collection’, an expertly shot creative image of coloured glass balls with a kaleidoscope of colours.

Secondly, with 20 images was the Portrait section with a wide selection of posed and candid shots. Third place went to Phil Yates with ‘Jensen’, a superbly posed image of the charismatic toddler. Second place also went to Phil with his shot titled ‘Preparing to Dance’, an excellently lit and posed shot of a ballerina. First place was awarded to Michael Oates with his attention-grabbing, powerful self-portrait with dramatic lighting and masses of texture.

The next meeting on Tuesday 20th March will be an Audio Visual feast with our annual AV competition, judged by John Smith.

Meetings are held on Tuesdays from 7.30p.m at Bridge Methodist Hall, behind Radcliffe Library. New members are always welcome. Visit our website prestwichcc.com for further information.
