An air of trepidation prevailed when she informed us she was known to be a tough judge but we found her to be fair and constructive. The Monochrome section was first to come under her critical gaze. Michael Oates' print entitled Path to Strumble Head Lighthouse, was awarded first place. This was an impactfull print with a lovely range of tones enhanced by a dark, moody sky. Alan Flavell came second with 'Gondolas, Venice' – a classic view, including 'that lamp'. Third place went to Anthony Shackman with 'Unstrung' – a decrepit string bottom chair in an archway providing an interesting subject.

In the Pictorial Section, Michael Oates took first and second place. First, 'Beach Memories (2) High Tide, had a simple sandy foreground with wood stumps leading through to the sea and a perfect sky. Second 'Old Jetty', a delicate, simple image of the remains of the old jetty standing in misty slow water. In third place Pauline Chapman with 'Doctors Orders' an aptly titled image of many types of fruit.
