BURY & District Agricultural Society's annual show is fast approaching.

It will take place on Sunday, July 1 at Burrs Country Park and thousands of visitors are expected to attend.

Along with the usual attractions there will be children's face painting, a demonstration by a cooper on the art of barrel and cask making, plus surprise main ring attractions. There will also be teams of young farmers taking part in a tug o' war.

Sponsorship is vital in helping to offset some of the costs and the society is grateful for the support it receives from sponsors and advertisers.

This year's president is Hervey Magnall, of the Fisherman's Retreat pub and restaurant.

Limited car parking at Burrs Country Park will be free and the show will run from 9am to 5pm. Entry is £5 for adults, £3 for senior citizens and children aged between 12 and 16. Accompanied children under 12 can enter for free.

Members of the public can get a free bus service from 10am until 4pm, which will operate from The Rock outside Wilkinsons and from the East Lancs Railway station in Bolton Street.
