RESIDENTS campaigning against plans to build a new church and school sports hall in Radcliffe are set to hold a meeting.
As previously reported in the Radcliffe Times, St Mary and St Philip Neri RC Church has submitted plans to build an £850,000 church next to St Mary's Primary School in Belgrave Street.
A new school sports hall and car park would also be built.
But people living in the area are concerned about congestion and parking problems around the site. They will meet headteacher Paul Heaton next week to discuss their concerns and try to find ways to resolve traffic problems.
The meeting will be held at the school from 7.30pm on Wednesday.
Bury Council's planning department have received 15 letters of objection from concerned residents, who are asking for a site visit before the application is considered. One letter of support and one comment have also been received.
The closing date for public consultation is June 21 and the proposals will then be discussed by the planning committee in July or August.
Anyone wishing to find out more about the meeting can contact Pat Bradley on (0161) 280 0777.
