ONE of the most significant bands ever, Blondie, will be playing Manchester's Carling Apollo on Wednesday, July 18.

The legendary group, fronted by pop icon Deborah Harry, had top 10 hits such as Denis, Dreaming, Rapture and number ones, Heart Of Glass, Sunday Girl, Atomic, Call Me and The Tide Is High.

In the Seventies and early Eighties albums like Plastic Letters, Parallel Lines and Eat to the Beat became a statutory part of a record collection for a generation.

More recently they topped the charts again with Maria, becoming one of the few bands to score number one hits over three decades.

Last year they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band features original members Deborah, guitarist Chris Stein and manic drummer Clem Burke.

Blondie also appear at the Blackpool Opera House on Sunday July 15. Both shows start at 7.30pm and tickets (£32 each) are available by contacting the 24 hour hotline on 0870 735 5000, or online at www.bookingsdirect.com (Agency and credit card bookings are subject to booking fee).
