THE 60th anniversary of the independence of India and the founding of Pakistan is shown in a new exhibition.
Imperial War Museum North presents a display of photographs, stories and events called Life and Freedom.
It provides a glimpse of the contribution made by Indian people during the Second World War, and how the events of the country's partition shaped individual lives.
The show runs until November 4. The museum is open every day from 10am to 6pm, and admission is free.
