FRANZ Ferdinand will top the bill at a music festival organised by a Bury promoter.

The legendary Scottish rock outfit have been confirmed as headliners for The Great British Sound Project, which returns to Victoria Warehouse, in Trafford, on September 22.

They are joined on the bill by The Cribs, Larkins, Glass Caves, Prose and Berries, with more acts to be announced.

The one-day indoor festival, now in its third year, has been organised by Steven Wood.

He said: “We're very excited to have Franz Ferdinand on board for our third British Sound Project. With The Cribs confirmed and other big names under our belts, it's looking like the strongest line up to date, and it feels good to be established on the festival calendar.”

This year the age limit at the festival has also been reduced.

Mr Wood said: "This year we've dropped the age restriction to 14+ to give more people chance to come along and enjoy the music. Plus we're starting earlier - the doors will open at 2 pm - to allow more bands to play."

Early Bird tickets for the festival go on sale at 9am tomorrow for anyone who has registered and 10am for general sale.
