RELEASED to celebrate the band’s 40th anniversary, this CD contains a dozen of this seminal groups greatest tracks specially re-recorded along with a brace of new recordings.
Still fronted by founder member and guitarist Mick Box, Uriah Heep was, along with the likes of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple, among the inventors of Hard Rock.
Unlike many of their contemporaries, Heep showed a more melodic side of the genre with a sound heavy on organ, guitar and with some mind-numbing vocal harmonies.
A string of hit albums resulted in classics such as ‘Gypsy’, ‘The Wizard’, ‘Look At Yourself’ and ‘Easy Living’.
And the band has lost none of it’s skill as evidenced by the new numbers ‘Only Human’ and ‘Corridors Of Madness’.
The re-recorded tracks all benefit from the improvement in recording technology as they sound more polished with a lot of the rawness smoothed out – without losing any of the bite and power of the original versions.
Old fans will marvel at the freshness of it and new fans, keen to check what all the fuss is about, will be in for a pleasant surprise.
