A PHOENIX Nights star will appear in an evening of comedy, taking place next month.

The First Thursday Comedy Club will feature Barbara Nice, the creation of Janice Connolly, spotted by Bolton funnyman Peter Kay in 1998.

She went on to star in That Peter Kay Thing, Phoenix Nights, Max and Paddy and Coronation Street, as Peter’s mum, and will be at The Met, Bury, on August 1 at 8.30pm.

Barbara is your average Stockport housewife who has given up the domestic bliss of Tupperware and Poundstretcher shops for the unpredictability of the comedy world. With the affectionate attitude of a playgroup leader at a wild Iggy Pop concert, Barbara is guaranteed to warm the heart of any audience.

Also on the bill is cheeky Scotsman Brian Higgins, who has been working on the comedy circuit for more than 14 years, having moved to London in his teens from a small fishing village in central Scotland.

His material is cheeky and upbeat, with topical quips alongside well-crafted stories of fatherhood, pregnancy and day-to-day life.

Tickets for the comedy club are £10, or £8 for concessions.
