WHP Presents...

The Warehouse Project, Store Street, Manchester

WITH stalwarts of the decks like The Chemical Brothers at the helm, you know you are in safe hands.

The electronic music duo of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons have been making music for more than 20 years but is was fresh beats for a new generation they brought to the Warehouse Project (WHP) on Friday night.

Headlining the WHP Presents night with a three hour DJ set, the pair dropped plenty of the heavy beats they are known and loved for — reverberating around the former air-raid shelter.

It has returned to the venue, near Piccadilly Station, after two seasons at Victoria Warehouse, Trafford Park, and I am glad to see it back — the layout, location, sound and whole vibe at Store Street is much better.

WHP resident Krysko, who previously held revered residencies including at Sankeys Soap, kicked the night off in the main room followed by DJ, producer, and remixer Andrew Weatherall.

By the time The Chemical Brothers emerged, at about 1am, the main room was crammed with people who were ready for their brand of upbeat dancefloor delights, with a nod to previous album tracks including Saturate, from2007's We Are the Night.

Despite being sold out, the venue did not feel too crowded and a trio of DJs— Will Tramp, Breach and Bicep — kept the party going in the smaller room.
