THE sounds of legendary American soul group The Drifters will entertain Motown fans at a Bolton casino.

The Drifters Tribute Revue will be at Grosvenor Casino Bolton, Ormrod Street, on Saturday, March 7.

The band promises to capture the magic of the past and reinvigorate a love for rock and roll classics.

The original Drifters, on the music scene since 1953, quickly became legends of the USA’s Motown record label.

Their legacy defined a sound of an era and they became known as one of the most successful and enduring vocal groups of all time. The memory of their heyday is encapsulated by their place in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Janet Sanderson, general manger of Grosvenor Casino Bolton, said: “Once again we’re ecstatic to be presenting the people of Bolton with yet another incredible act.

"The Drifters Tribute Revue will undoubtedly get the crowd going with a selection of top tunes at this one-off performance that shouldn’t be missed.

“We’re more than just a gaming destination and always endeavour to host an array of top acts for customers who are joining us for leisure.

"With a number of crowd-pleasing hits, we’re confident it will be a night to remember so make sure you get your tickets now while you still can to avoid disappointment.”

Richie Sampson’s Drifters Tribute Revue won the 2013 UK Agency Association’s National Tribute Awards, organised by The Agent’s Association (GB).

Performing many of The Drifters’ top hits, such as Under the Boardwalk, Up on the Roof and Kissing in the Back Row of the Movies, the Drifters Revue also write and perform their own original songs which are heavily influenced by the original Drifters.

They pay homage to some of the band’s legendary early members, such as Clyde McPhatter, Johnny More and Ben E King, who went on to enjoy enormous solo success after his stint with the group.

Over the years, Richie has performed with long-standing members of the Drifters — Ray and Billy Lewis, Butch Leake and Roy Hemmings, helping to bring the magic of Motown to the stage alongside his tribute bandmates.

They will be supported on the night by Diana Ross look-a-like Tameka Jackson — an internationally acclaimed tribute artist who has performed all over the world.

She has worked with many well-known singers including Jools Holland, The Drifters, Janet Jackson and The Foundations.

Her Diana Ross tribute act comes from a deep respect and admiration for the Supremes and Diana Ross and is sure to wow audiences with her uncanny resemblance to the legendary lady herself.

Ticket prices start at £15 or £20, including food.
