HUNDREDS of rock fans are expected to descend on Bolton to get a glimpse of some never-before-seen photos of legendary band Queen.

Bolton will be one of 15 stops on a UK-wide tour of fine-art photographs by Denis O'Regan, one of the world's most revered rock photographers, later this year.

Williams BMW, in Raikes Lane, will be transformed into a stunning art gallery for one night only on November 21 for the Princes of the Universe: Ultimate Queen exhibition.

Rock exhibition specialists Off Beat Lounge have worked with the photographer to curate more than 60 images, more than half of which have never been published.

The photos capture some of the band's most stunning live performances around the world, as well as intimate off-stage moments, from the mid-1970s to the original line-up's final tour in 1986.

Mr O'Regan said: “I’m delighted to be able to tour this collection of photographs with Off Beat Lounge. Selecting the shots has been an evocative experience. It was a special time for me, and I’m reminded of the trust that Freddie, Brian, Roger and John placed in me.

“All these years later, they remain one of the most famous and charismatic bands in history."

The tour follows on from the sell-out UK tour of David Bowie photography that visited the car showroom last year.

Off Beat Lounge founder, Mark Overton, added: “Some bands provide more than music, they document a period of time for an entire generation, and Queen were such a band.

"Although I’ve worked with Denis for a number of years now, I’m still in awe of his talent, and this carefully selected body of work illustrates that talent in an amazing way."

Bolton already boasts a connection with Queen, as three of the band, including singer Freddie Mercury, played a gig in Queens Park in 1969, when they were known as Smile.

The event will run from 7.30pm to 9pm for standard admission tickets, with VIP ticket holders gaining access from 6.30pm for a Q and A session with Mr O’Regan and private viewing.

Produced to museum standards, all photographs are available to purchase, with VIP ticket holders able to reserve prints in advance for collection on the night.
