BILLED as the “barmiest festival in all the land”, Beat-Herder returns this year with an eccentric party in Lancashire.

Based in the Ribble Valley, the festival has been going for 12 years and unites dub, reggae, house, techno, indie, rock, psychedelic, drum & bass and dubstep across 21 stages on July 14 to 16.

Performing on the Saturday is anarchic music duo Sleaford Mods, in their only northern festival appearance of 2017.

They will be joined by Danish multi-instrumentalist Trentemøller, who will take to the main stage with a full live band.

The line-up also includes Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Toots and the Maytals, David Rodigan MBE, and The Sugarhill Gang.

Other acts announced include On-U Sound honcho Adrian Sherwood, Milky Chance, and High Contrast, who will play The Ring - a 100ft diameter bank of earth with imposing walls and a Stonehenge-style entrance.

Elsewhere, Techno act Slam, OPTIMO (Espacio), celebrate in The Fortress, a giant steel citadel complete with fire-spewing turrets.

The Toil Trees stage will welcome Faithless, Shadow Child, Skream and Jackmaster.

Beat-Herder stalwart Mr. Scruff returns, alongside Artwork, Factory Floor, Ninja Tune’s Romare and Mercury prize nominee Jon Hopkins.
