CATFISH and the Bottlemen, The Libertines and Run DMC are to headline this year’s Kendal Calling Festival.

Tickets for the four-day event at the end of July go on sale at 10am tomorrow.

The festival gets underway on Thursday, July 26 when Hacienda Classical featuring Manchester Camerata and DJs Graeme Park and Mike Pickering will headline.

The diverse line-up also includes James, Ocean Colour Scene, Shed Seven, the Wailers, Fun Lovin’ Criminals and Slow Readers Club.

As well as performances on the main stage, the festival will see Basement Jaxx and Grandmaster Flash performing on the Glow Dance Stage.

With other stages in the setting of Lowther Deer Park, the festival offers a diverse range of artists including DJ sets from Tim Burgess and Mistajam, a spoken word event with Bernard Butler plus an array of specially-commissioned art installations.

Festival director, Andy Smith said: “We’re thrilled to be heading into our 13th year and can’t wait to head back to the beautiful Lake District for another weekend of music, art, food and a couple of Kend-ales.

“We’re lucky to have one of our biggest line-ups ever and can’t wait to welcome hip hop royalty Run DMC to the festival alongside our other headliners Catfish and the Bottlemen, The Libertines and Hacienda Classical. See you in the fields!”

The previous 12 festivals have all been sell-outs - last year’s festival sold out within a week of the line-up being announced.

Manchester legend Peter Hook said: Peter Hook, said: “I’ve always loved the Lake District and the opportunity to play with both my favourite acts, Hacienda Classical and The Light at Kendal Calling, coming there for the first time this year is really a dream come true.

“Who could possibly turn down double bubble?”

Simon Fowler of Ocean Colour Scene added: “Myself and Oscar played at Kendal Calling a couple of years ago so this is a fantastic opportunity to come back and bring the full band to play at this great well known independent festival.”

Fun Lovin’ Criminals said:

“It will be our pleasure to bring the FLC style to the Lake District this summer alongside the real Kings of New York; Run DMC!”

The award-winning independent festival is renowned for more than just music and visitors will also enjoy four days of art installations, comedy, gourmet food, children’s entertainment and a real ale festival.
