VIDEO famously killed the radio star and now one Bolton band is inviting fans to join the party and be in their latest music video.

Westhoughton alt rockers Our Fold are hosting a special gig, with a live audience, to film the video for their upcoming single.

The shoot and show will take place at St Gregory's in Farnworth, home of the famous Phoenix Club from Peter Kay's legendary comedy Phoenix Nights, on April 27.

The outfit will play a full 45 minute set with the cameras rolling, including their latest track Don't You Want A Lover —a homage to New York punk and new wave pioneers from the Ramones to the Talking Heads.

The band will also be supported by Bolton singer songwriter James Holt, and another special guest is set to be announced at 7pm this Thursday on Our Fold's Facebook and Twitter.

Tickets for the gig are already flying — with early bird tickets, which included a free t-shirt, selling out in less than 24 hours.

The money raised from ticket sales will then be used to fund more studio time for the band to record new material.

Speaking a head of the gig, Our Fold vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Damien Riley said: "It should be a cracking do. We were trying to think where we could film it because the trains are knackered at the minute.

"So we picked St Gregory's as we have never played anywhere outside of Blind Tiger in Bolton because venues are a bit thin on the ground, plus we're all big Phoenix Night's fans.

"Hopefully everyone will have had a drink and we'll get them bouncing around.

"People should come down, it will be a cracking night, and just have a party in the world famous Phoenix Club."

Formed in 2005 and comprising Dan McLaren, bass; Sam Evans, drums; Gaz Drury, lead guitar; and Mr Riley; Our Fold came together through a shared love of the same music and in suitably rock'n'roll style.

When Mr Riley's girlfriend was away for a few weeks he hosted a number of house parties so crazy his next door neighbours ended up moving out.

The parties soon evolving into jamming sessions which he taped and the band was born.

The name Our Fold similarly emerged when they ran out of beer at one party and had to invite a friend from Farnworth to bring more booze.

The incident prompted someone to say, "Farnworth... that's not in our fold", to which Mr Riley thought "I'm having that."

Over a 12 year career the band have played numerous sold out headline shows in Manchester, and supported artists including Kasabian, Frank Turner, The Fratellis and The Coral.

No strangers to the festival circuit they have also made three appearances at Reading and Leeds, as well as slots at Glastonbury, Kendal Calling, The Isle of Wight Festival and others, and have found international success with four shows in New York, and sets at Hovefestivalen in Norway and Ireland's Electric Picnic.

With new management and new material ready to record, including their new single, 2018 is shaping up to be Our Fold's year.

Mr Riley said: "Hopefully this year will be our year, or maybe next year.

"I think we're the best we have ever been in 12 years, so it keeps you going. I just love it."

Tickets priced £5 plus fees are available from Skiddle.
