T’S August 1 — and there’s a month of summer fun and frolics ahead at Bury Market.

A visit to some of the 350 stalls at Bury Market is always a great shopping day out for all the family, but during August, there will be a range of extra activities to make things even more exciting.

Tower FM will be at the market every Friday, with popular breakfast show hosts Jon and Vix, who will be putting fun and fitness back into the summer break.

Get up close and personal with this pair of radio stars on Fridays, August 9, August 16 and August 23, between 10 am and 3pm, when they will be will be hosting a range of exciting outdoor and garden games suitable for young and old.

How about trying giant snakes and ladders or giant noughts and crosses? Or why not get to grips with swingball, remind yourself how to play hopscotch and then enjoy some of the refreshments on offer?

There will be free water and fruit to keep everyone hydrated. The little ones may just enjoy playing at the sand and water table, while everyone is also invited to try their hand at garden archery. There will be animal fun, too, on Fridays, with a chance to meet some farmyard creatures — all at the market. Pimhole Community Farm will be bringing along some of their furry friends and set up a petting zoo on these three Fridays, giving visitors a chance to see and stroke sheep, goats and possibly even a Shetland pony...

Then on Friday, August 30, there’s also another special event to tempt you to the market with. A special food and craft market will be organised on that day, in the market/Mill Gate square — with even more opportunities to shop until you drop, sample some of the delicious delights on offer and marvel and skilfully made handwork.
