THREE piece Harlem-style swing band 52 Skidoo will bring their tribute to Fats Waller to the Met, in Bury, tomorrow.

The band play an array of vintage American music including classic favourites like Ain’t Misbehavin’, The Joint is Jumpin’ and Your Feet’s Too Big, carefully woven into well known hits like Darktown Strutters Ball, Jeepers Creepers and I ain’t Got Nobody to create an authentic 1920/30s Harlem party atmosphere.

They bring back to life the forgotten era of prohibition, speakeasys, Vaudeville, tin pan alley, rent parties, stride piano and hot jazz.

Fats Waller was a skilled pianist, and master of stride piano who played in the 20s and 30s. Having been the prize pupil and later friend and colleague of the greatest of the stride pianists, James P. Johnson, Waller was one of the most popular performers of his era, finding critical and commercial success in his homeland and in Europe.

He was also a prolific songwriter, and many songs he wrote or co-wrote are still popular.

Tickets are £8 or £6 concessions. To book visit themet.biz or ring 0161 761 2216.
