I HAVE lived on Church Meadow for 25 years and, with many other families with young children, enjoyed a safe and friendly environment, close to schools, shops and other essential amenities.
One important feature of the estate design was the inclusion of tight, meandering curved roads specifically included as a traffic-calming measure, and its success has manifested itself in an accident-free zone since the estate was built.
It’s seems totally preposterous to now install further traffic-calming measures during a period of austerity and financial constraints, when the local authority is suffering financial cuts seriously affecting social welfare, education, transport, health and other vital and essential services, not to mention the dire state of our local roads with their copious amount of potholes.
