BEING an avid walker, I have noticed the large number of drains around Bury that are blocked.
Two areas that regularly suffer from being flooded due to this, are the road in front of The Hare and Hounds, Holcombe Brook and a section of Bury Road.
The Hare and Hounds area is due to the drains in Lumb Carr Road being silted up. Similarly, in Bury Road, where the only action taken when the road becomes flooded, is to place a flood warning sign at the roadside.
I recently saw a drain-cleaning vehicle cleaning the drains around the town hall, where there is little likelihood of the drains becoming silted up.
Would it therefore not be possible to prioritise this operation for areas more likely to be flooded come the winter?
