Bank raider escapes with £5,000
A LONE raider has escaped with around £5,000 following a robbery at a Bury bank which happened in the last hour.
The male, wearing a cap and a Manchester United top, walked into the Bradford & Bingley in Market Street at approximately 1.50pm and made threats to staff, forcing them to hand over the money.
No weapon was produced during the raid and the offender, described as a white male, escaped on foot.
No-one was injured during the robbery. Police are currently investigating.

Merlin i do not agree with your last comment. It is a well known fact that the majority of manchester united fans are not from manchester.
I think it is funny as being a resident of bury that the police had made it public knowledge that the town centre is safe and that there are dedicated teams working solely in bury town centre - and right under their noses a robbery occurs. Bury is a small town centre and even then someone has managed to commit a serious crime. There has got to be a lot said for the police in general and the way they conduct their practises. I do not feel safe in Bury anymore and we read on a daily basis the horrendous crime rate increasing, especially with serious violent crime.

So..all that money that was raised from our poll tax to pay for cctv cameras was of some value then!
