FIREFIGHTERS helped a teenager down from a tree in Bury Cemetery - just four weeks after one of his friends was involved in a similar rescue operation.
Last Wednesday, watch commander Carl Bostock's team from Bury fire station turned out to the cemetery after receiving reports that a 14-year-old boy had climbed too far up a tree.
The crew were met at the entrance to the cemetery in St Peters Road by another teenage boy whom they had rescued from a different tree in the same graveyard a month earlier. "I think we experienced a sense of deja vu," said Mr Bostock. "A boy approached us and directed us to the tree where his mate was stuck. I asked the lad if it was the same person stuck up the tree from a month earlier. He said he was the one rescued that time.
"Once his pal was safe, I had a few harsh words with them about their behaviour."
