VISITORS to Tottington Methodist Church can enjoy a tree-mendous start to the festive season.

The church is staging its first-ever Christmas tree festival tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday and is being supported with musical entertainment.

In addition to interludes by the two resident church organists, guest organists and school music groups will perform.

Tomorrow, Tottington High School music group will entertain from 2.30pm to 3.30pm. On Saturday, John Edwards, organist at Holcombe Brook Methodist Church, will play from 11am to noon, and Alan Beedie, organist at Heaton Park Methodist Church, from 2pm to 3pm.

On Sunday, Tottington Primary School Choir will perform from 12.15pm to 1pm, Barbara Barlow, organist at Bury’s Bolton Road Methodist Church, from 2pm to 3pm, and Lisa Morley, of Tottington Methodist Church, will give a flute recital from 3pm. Also on Sunday at 10.30am, there will be a special “all-age-worship” festival service for Advent, conducted by Rev Kathy Selby.

The festival, with 30 sponsored, themed trees, is open tomorrow from 2pm to 8pm, Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and Sunday from noon to 4pm.

Admission is £2 for adults and children aged 11 and over, and free for younger children.

Proceeds will go to Tottington Methodist Church and charity, Porch Boxes which provides crisis packs.
