TRIBUTES have been paid to two men who died after their car hit a tree.
Jack Francis Christian, aged 22, and Lee James Perris, aged 23, died when the silver Volkswagen Polo overturned and crashed into a tree in Bury Road, Radcliffe, at 3.30am on Sunday.
Mr Perris, from Radcliffe, leaves his mother Tracey, sisters Maxine and Samantha, half-brothers Joshua and Reece, nephews Finley and Spencer Lee, and niece Gracie-Lou.
They said: “Lee loved football and was a massive Manchester United fan.
“He had a love of music and would often play his guitar.
“Lee was a sociable person who enjoyed socialising with his large circle of friends.
“He will be deeply missed.”
In a tribute to Mr Christian, from Bury, his family said: “Jack was a much-loved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend to everyone who knew him.
“He was kind-hearted, loving and fun.
“He will leave a massive hole in our hearts and lives.”
The incident is being investigated by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
Police say an officer on routine patrol spotted the car with frost on its windows speeding along Bury Road. The officer had activated the vehicle’s emergency sirens to follow the car, but lost sight of it before the collision outside Newbank Garden Centre.
The officer has been suspended from driving while investigations are carried out.
