Museum’s Army office is to close

BURY’S Army careers information office at the town’s Fusilier Museum will close today as the recruitment frontline moves with the times.

Bosses have decided to meet the demands of smart phone and electronic tablet users, after seeing an increase in the number of inquiries via computers and mobile phones.

The work of the Moss Street-based museum is unaffected by the closure.

Commander Regional Recruiting, Lieutenant Colonel Leanda Pitt said: “Army recruiting teams have been examining the way recruiting is done to make sure it is more efficient and effective.

“Although some offices are closing, we are stepping up our online presence to meet the demands of young recruits who are increasingly likely to use their smart phone or tablet device to contact us.

“The Army is still recruiting in Bury and there are jobs available now. I’d encourage anyone interested in knowing more to visit our website army.mod.uk or our careers office in Bolton or Manchester which will remain open.”

Among the career opportunities available from the Army are a variety of roles including combat, healthcare, engineering, IT, communications, music and administration.

It is currently recruiting for both Regular and Territorial Army vacancies.
