Pub staff get cheeky but nice to raise cash

DARING staff at a Bury pub decided to bare all to raise money for Bury Hospice.

Bar and restaurant employees at the Swan and Cemetery have appeared in their own Calendar Girls-style 2013 calendar.

They were inspired by the popular film, which is based on a true story about Women’s Institute members in Yorkshire featuring in a nude charity calendar.

Women stripped off and posed for the calendar at the Manchester Road pub. They were pictured in various poses, including pulling pints behind the bar and with strategically-placed food menus, drinks and other items preserving their modesty.

Finesse Photography offered to take the photographs for free.

Pub owner Kieron Johnson decided to put together the calendar as part of his ongoing efforts to support the hospice.

He hopes it will raise £500 to £1,000 to help pay for the care of terminally ill patients. Mr Johnson said: “We do a lot for the hospice and have collection pots on the bar at all times. I lost my dad to cancer and I feel very close to the hospice. The girls were all nervous at first but they all enjoyed it. They said it was fantastic. They are very proud of the calendar. It’s done very nicely — it’s not rude. It’s cheeky, but nice.” The calendar costs £10 and is available to buy in the pub and at the hospice’s shops.
