Motorist dies after collision

ONLINE tributes have poured in for a 25-year-old Bury man who died after his Nissan Almera hit a lamppost and a tree in Edenfield.

Police are continuing their appeal for witnesses to the accident which happened when Bernard Boylan was travelling south on the A56 dual carriageway.

Officers say he apparently lost control of the car which struck a lamppost and a tree before coming to rest down a shallow embankment on the exit slip road for Edenfield at 8.30pm on Monday.

Mr Boylan was taken to Royal Oldham Hospital, but died later from serious internal injuries.

Tributes and messages of sympathy have been left on Facebook and Twitter by friends and family.

On Facebook, Stacy Boylan wrote: “Very sad day today. Missing a very important person in the Boylan clan.”

A message from Jasmin Boylan read: “Our eyes filled up with tears as we heard the news. It never occurred to me how much we could lose.”

Police are investigating.
