A PENSIONER was beaten up and robbed as he walked home in Ramsbottom.
At about 1am on Sunday, April 21, John McManus, aged 67, was walking along an alley between Garnett Street and Dundee Lane when another man approached him and demanded money.
The robber punched Mr McManus in the face, knocking him to the floor, then punched and kicked him before taking his wallet. The man ran off towards Dundee Lane.
Mr McManus was left with a suspected broken nose and severe swelling around his eye.
Police have released a photo showing his injuries.
The mugger is about 6ft tall with black hair. He was wearing a grey coat with a hood.
Det Con Daniel Whitaker, from Bury police station, said: “This was a violent robbery which has left this man with nasty injuries to his face.
"If you were in the area at the time and saw the incident or a man running through the alleyway towards Dundee Lane I would urge you to call police.”
