PROMISING young photographers exhibited their work at a special end of year event at two Bury primary schools.

Pupils at East Ward Primary and Greenmount Primary have been taking part in extra curricular photography clubs and have showed off their creative skills at displays across the schools.

The sessions at both schools were led by photographer Mike Ainscoe, with more than 30 children attending the photography club at East Ward.

To mark the last week of term, the children’s work was displayed around the school in the form of a photography trail, and Karen Young, headteacher at East Ward, said the pupils benefited from the classes.

She said: “Photography Club at East Ward has increased children’s confidence in using visual stimuli to develop their creativity and imagination.”

Year 3 pupil at East Ward Dylan Armstrong said: “It’s great because you get to go out and explore, take pictures and learn to use a camera.”

Pupils in Year 3, 4, and 5, were involved in the photography club at Greenmount, with some of their prints being displayed in the school’s entrance hall, and a trip to Greenmount United Reformed Church enabled them to test out their skills.

David Geeson, teacher in charge of extra curricular links at Greenmount Primary, said: “The finished photography work by quite young children was amazing!”
