An app to find out information about local policing and help with appeals has been launched by Greater Manchester Police.
The tool is now available for android users, and Greater Manchester Police (GMP) is the first force inthe UK to introduce such an app.
It follows the launch of the iPhone app in January which has been downloaded by more than 11,000 people. The new app has the same features as the iPhone version, allowing residents to find the location of their nearest police station or details about crimes that have occured in the area.
It will also provide details of local neighbourhood community teams, community meetings and give the opportunity to help with wanted and missing people appeals. It is free of charge and can be downloaded by android users on the Google Play Store or the App Store by iPhone users by searching ‘Greater Manchester Police.’ Ian Hopkins, Deputy Chief Constable, said: “GMP prides itself on being at the forefront of social media and we are always looking at new ways that we can use it to communicate with our communities.”
