A TEENAGER who made neighbours’ lives a misery — kicking footballs against cars and houses — has been handed an ASBO banning him from even touching a ball.

Jack Williams could be jailed if he so much as kicks a football anywhere in Prestwich in the next two years.

Bury Council asked Bury magistrates to impose the antisocial behaviour order after residents kept daily diaries cataloguing his antics.

Nineteen people complained about Williams with some keeping daily diaries since 2010.

The 18-year-old, of Heaton Street, Prestwich, kicked footballs against people’s cars and houses and would also throw snowballs at people’s windows.

He also kicked a ball recklessly in an under-12s play area in Bailey Street and used threatening and intimidating language and behaviour towards residents who challenged him.

Andrew Acton, aged 58, of Heaton Street, paid hundreds of pounds to install CCTV cameras at his house, so he could catch the lout in the act.

His footage persuaded magistrates to grant the order at a hearing on Tuesday, August 20.

Mr Acton said: “It got to the point where my wife and I daren’t go on holiday because we weren’t sure what kind of damage we would come back to. I’m delighted that the ASBO has been put in place and I hope our lives can get back to normal now.

“The problems started about two years ago when we would hear loud noises at the front of the house.

“Someone would kick a football at the house in the early hours of the morning and it carried on for weeks.

“I installed CCTV cameras and recorded what I can only describe as a fully blown football match taking place in front of our house, and Jack would kick the ball quite hard at our windows. We’ve had two or three incidents a week for the last two years and there are elderly residents who have had problems with him too.”

Williams attended court on Tuesday and did not challenge Bury Council’s application for an ASBO. The Bury Times contacted him for comment but he did not respond.

According to his Facebook page, Williams studied at Parrenthorn High School and is a Manchester United fan.

Under the terms of the ASBO, Williams is banned from talking to witnesses in the case, from abusing, insulting, harassing or threatening people and from using foul and abusive language.

He is banned from playing ball games and from being in possession of a ball on any street in Prestwich.
