Twitter alert for region’s travellers
5:40pm Wednesday 28th August 2013 in News
TRAVELLERS needing updates on the North West’s railways can now turn to social media – as British Transport Police have joined Twitter.
Updates on railway crime, press releases and appeals will now be put out via the force’s new dedicated Twitter handle, @BTPmediaNW.
The account, manned by the specialist force, will also feature photographs from operations and interviews with officers.
North West media manager Glynn Hellam said: “Having a Twitter presence will enable us to get up-to-the-minute information out to the media and should further improve the service we offer.
“Formal press releases will still be sent out in the usual manner, but we will utilise Twitter much more to distribute updates, information about arrests and other items which may be of interest.
“To make sure you don’t miss out on any information, please follow us.”
British Transport Police is a national police service which covers the rail system in England, Wales and Scotland — with the North West team covering Stoke to the Scottish border.
