Firefighters will host family fun day

FIREFIGHTERS will be opening their doors to the public on Saturday.
The family fun day will be held at Bury Fire Station in Magdalene Road, Bury, between 10am and 3pm.
It will include fire engines for youngsters to look around, an ice-cream stall, hotdogs, fairground rides, vintage police cars, military vehicles and more.
Watch manager Steve Wilcock, who is organising this free event, said “It will be a great opportunity for members of the public, both young and old to visit our new station and find out more about the role of the Fire and Rescue Service here in Bury, the fire engines will be fully accessible for young children to climb on board and explore as well as being exciting opportunity to squirt water like real firefighters.”
"There will be a live demonstration of a simulated car crash with the firefghters showing techniques on how they use the specialised equipment to rescue casualties out of vehicles."
A demonstration of a car being cut will take place at 1.30pm.
It will be the official open day for Bury Fire Station since the firefighters relocated from the former base on The Rock.
