PARAMEDICS and firemen helped to rescue a 65-year-old man who suffered head injuries in a 10ft fall down an embankment.
Ambulance crews attended the scene at the land off Redmere Drive where the man had tumbled down a 10ft drop from a path which leads to Pilsworth.
They treated him for head injuries but were unable to carry him back to the path, so called in help from Bury and Whitefield fire stations at 10.30pm last Thursday.
The man, who was conscious, was strapped to a board and firemen used rope equipment to lift him to safety.
He was then taken to Hope Hospital.
A spokeswoman for North West Ambulance Service said they received a 999 call at 8.15pm.
She said: “The man suffered a significant cut to his head and we needed assistance to get him out.
“We do not know whether he lost consciousness at the time of the fall but he was fully conscious and alert when he was taken to hospital.”
