A government programme to help troubled households has involved more than 160 Bury families, according to new figures.
The Troubled Families scheme aims to identify families who may be involved in anti-social behaviour, have children who regularly truant or have an adult on out-of-work benefits, and help them turn their lives around.
In Bury,165 families had been identified and worked with by June, 2013, and six families had been ‘turned around’ by July, 2013.
The government says it is committed to helping 120,000 troubled families by 2015 by getting children back into school and adults into work, and cutting youth crime and anti-social behaviour.
