Robbery terror as couple try to keep out gang of thieves who break into their home
5:59pm Monday 21st October 2013 in News
A TERRIFIED couple tried to fend off three robbers who broke into their Prestwich home.
The men burst into the house in Prestwich Park Road South through the back door before the occupants, a 64-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman, spotted them and piled their weight against an internal door in a desperate attempt to keep them out.
The men repeatedly kicked the door, damaging it and forcing the couple to flee and raise the alarm.
The intruders then stole goods from inside the house before leaving.
One of the men was white, in his mid 20s, 6ft 2in tall and slim. He was wearing a grey hooded top.
Two others were white, about 6ft tall and slim.
PC Mark Robertson said: “Only people who have been through this experience will understand the fear that comes with having your home invaded by strangers intent on stealing your belongings.
“Clearly the couple are extremely shaken up but thankfully weren’t physically harmed.
“I would urge anyone who may have been in the area and saw these three at any point or who thinks they know who they are to call us.”
