BUDDING artists are being called to arms at the Fusilier Museum .

A workshop is being held after the museum was awarded a £2,000 grant by Community Spaces, to encourage children to draw what they want to be when they grow up. Adults are also being encouraged to take part.

Theatre group Make it Public Productions will bring to life the stories of past students and tutors from Bury Arts and Craft centre.

Daniel Jessop, learning officer at the Fusilier Museum, said: “We are delighted to have secured this funding from Community Spaces.

“It’s a great opportunity for children and adults of today to take inspiration from the older generation and put it into pictures.”

All those taking part in the session — to be held on Wednesday, October 30 — will be invited to include their drawings in a huge picture which will be displayed in the museum.

Wendy Jenkins, programme firector at Groundwork UK which manages Community Spaces, said: “As an environmental and community development charity we are committed to helping local people to improve their neighbour-hoods. We have already supported the Friends of the Fusilier Museum with their Gallipoli Garden and this extra money has helped the group to celebrate their space. It’s all part of our wider campaign to make tomorrow different.”

The free event will run from 1pm until 3pm.
