9:10am Monday 4th November 2013 in News
A GRIEVING family has paid tribute to a 23-year-old Bury motorcyclist who lost his fight for life after a road crash.
Gary Bell, pictured, of Rochdale Old Road, suffered serious head and chest injuries after his motorbike was in collision with a car.
At about 10.30pm on Friday, he was riding his white Yamaha motorcycle in Bond Street, Bury, towards the junction with Wash Lane.
Police say it overtook a vehicle and continued into the junction where it was in collision with a silver Toyota Yaris that had been driven along Wash Lane towards the same junction.
Mr Bell, who worked as a labourer, died in Salford Royal Hospital the following day.
Following his death, his family issued a tribute.
It stated: “Gary was our son, brother and uncle. We are devastated by what’s happened, he was so loving and as a family we are completely distraught.
“There are no words to describe how much he will be missed by all of his family and friends.”
Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation into how the accident happened and are appealing for information and witnesses.
Senior investigating officer, Sgt Danny Byrne, said: “This young man has tragically lost his life and we are supporting the family at this difficult time.
“It is important to establish how this collision happened, so we are appealing to anyone who may have seen the motorbike immediately beforehand travelling along Bond Street, or the collision itself, to contact us.”
Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 4745.
