A CREEPY clown has been spotted in Radcliffe twice in the last week.

Unnerved members of the public called police after seeing a man dressed as a clown in the Cross Lane area last Wednesday (November 27) and Thursday (November 28).

On Thursday police were called after the prankster, who has a white painted face and wears a red and black wig, looked through the window of a house before running away when he was spotted.

A spokesperson for GMP Bury South said while it isn’t against the law to dress up as a clown, there are offences for alarming, harassing or distressing members of the public.

These sightings are believed to be part of a recent hoax sweeping across the country where people dress as a clown to disturb members of the public.

The craze began earlier this year after photos of a clown stalking the streets of Northampton went viral online.

Clown sightings have now been reported across England in Mansfield, Scunthorpe, Burnley and King’s Lynn.
