TWO more clowns have been spotted in Radcliffe this week.

An unnerved member of the public called police after seeing two men dressed as clowns near Cemetery Road at 11.20pm on Saturday (December 28).

Officers were called to the area after the clowns were reported heading down Banana Walk heading towards Spring Lane.

In November, unnerved members of the public called police over two sightings of a man dressed as a clown in the Cross Lane area.

In one incident the prankster, who had a white painted face and was wearing a red and black wig, looked through the window of a house before running away when he was spotted.

A spokesperson for GMP Bury South said while it wasn’t against the law to dress up as a clown, there are offences for alarming, harassing or distressing members of the public.

Police are unsure as to whether the men were on their way to a fancy dress event or if the sightings are part of a recent hoax sweeping across the country.

The craze to dress up as a clown in order to disturb members of the public began earlier this year after photos of a clown stalking the streets of Northampton went viral online.

Clown sightings have now been reported across England in Mansfield, Scunthorpe, Burnley and King’s Lynn.
