A MAN found hanged at Whitefield Metrolink Station has been named as Douglas Isaac.

The 69 year old, of Tameside, was found dead by horrified commuters who were making their way to work at 8.25am on December 12.

As revealed exclusively in The Guide on Boxing Day, Mr Isaac had been interviewed by police the day before his death on suspicion of rape and sexually assault.

He was not charged with any offence.

The circumstances surrounding the incident were referred to the police watchdog, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), as a matter of routine.

The IPCC referred the matter back to local police for investigation.

The inquest into Mr Isaac opened on New Year's Eve and was adjourned.

A spokesman for Rochdale Coroner's Office said the inquest is due to resume on April 24.
