A music student from Radcliffe has set his sights on becoming a superstar DJ after being singled out by a record label.

Danny Lynch is celebrating after one of his tracks has been signed to Swiss record label Hochspannung.

He uploaded the demo on to music website Soundcloud where it was spotted by the record label, who asked Danny for a finished version and then asked him to create a further six demo tracks.

Danny studied a diploma in music in 2010 at Bury College and then progressed to music technology.

His enthusiasm for electronic music continued at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, the only academy in the country to offer a degree in electronic music production.

Danny, a former pupil at St Monica’s RC High School in Prestwich, has already performed as a DJ in Ibiza during the summer months.

He said: “Having a signed track really opens a lot of doors and makes me a more credible DJ. Eventually I’d like to be playing my own songs in clubs, so this is the first step.

“Bury College helped me turn my interest in music into a proper career aim and taught me about contracts and the music business, which has really helped me understand the industry.”

Danny hopes to be able to DJ at festivals and use his skills to travel the world.

He added: “The tutors at Bury College are already in industry so it is good to benefit from their experience.”

John Catterall, Danny’s former tutor, added: “Providing students with skills for a successful career is at the heart of all our music courses. I am delighted at Danny’s progress and would like to wish him luck for the future.”
