A TOTTINGTON teenager who is confined to a wheelchair has been given a lifeline after kind-hearted fundraisers donated a mobile hoist.
Ethan Wright, aged 14, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy when he was a toddler, which causes muscle weakness.
The Cheshire-based charitable trust, The Moore Foundation, have now donated a mobile hoist to be used at the family home in Laburnum Avenue to help improve Ethan’s motability, after a number of fundraising events.
The family home is slowly being adapted to his needs, and previously Ethan was mainly confined to his bedroom while not at school, as the only hoist they had was located there to take him to the bathroom.
Former Manchester United footballer Lee Martin, who is also the trust’s patron, along with the Moore Foundation’s chairman Nigel Garner and BBC Radio Manchester presenter Becky Want presented the hoist.
Mr Garner said: “It was an absolute joy to be able to help such a lovely young man and his family.”
