A Bury businessman is cycling 2014 miles this year to raise money for a children’s hospice.
Stuart Badley, aged 33, has set a fundraising target of £2,014 to donate to Derian House Children’s Hospice in Chorley by tackling several cycling stages across the country.
Mr Badley, who is a sales director at Premier Bathroom Studio in Bury, has previously taken part in charity events, but nothing on this scale.
His journey will start with a Way of the Roses cycle from Morecambe to Bridlington on Sunday, and will conclude by riding from Cambridge to Norwich on September 28.
Mr Badley, of Woodhill Street, Brandlesholme, said: “Over the past three or four years I have done various charity events but this year I wanted to do something for a local charity which serves our area.
“When you break it down piece by piece, I have done similar events. For example, I have ridden from Manchester to Blackpool. I am reasonably fit but it is not going to be easy, and I am looking forward to it.”
