IT was a special occasion at a Bury care home when three residents celebrated landmark birthdays — all on the same day.

Susan Holt turned 70, Malcolm Douglas, 80, and Connie Lord, 90 on Friday and were treated to presents at Brookdale Care Home in Chesham Crescent, Bury.

They were given a cake featuring miniature versions of themselves, donated by Cake Craft, of Ramsbottom.

The cake shows Mr Holt wearing his RAF service medal, retired shorthand typist Ms Lord potting plants, and retired primary school teacher and probation officer Ms Holt with her paperwork.

Diane Howorth, activities co-ordinator at Brookdale, said: “It an amazing day, the best party I’ve had at the home.

“It was only when I was looking through some files and seeing what birthdays were on that I saw that there were three birthdays in February with a year ending in ‘4’.

“I want to thank Kathleen Axon and her husband, Shaun, for donating the cake, it was a lovely gesture.”

Joining the celebrations were family, staff and fellow residents. They were treated to entertainment from Glenn Lord, a singer and impersonator from Oldham.
