EXCEPTIONAL fundraisers who wore their poppies with pride this November were honoured at an annual awards ceremony in the mayor's parlour.
The borough’s annual poppy appeal awards on Tuesday, March 4, saw certificates handed out to volunteers by the Mayor of Bury Cllr Sharon Briggs and Lieutenant Colonel Eric Davidson, honorary poppy appeal organiser for Bury.
Last year organisers set a £50,000 fundraising target for current and former Armed Forces personnel – but in total the public donated £57,215.
Lt Col Davidson said: “The total amount collected in the district was slightly down on the previous year, when we raised £58,408.
“Nevertheless, it was an absolutely outstanding contribution by the public.”
