FIREFIGHTERS rescued a woman found unconscious in a house fire in Bury yesterday evening.

She was carried out of the terraced house in Tottington Road and revived by a fire trauma technician from Bury Fire Station and taken to hospital.

Emergency services were called to the property at 11pm, with crews from Bury, Whitefield and Ramsbottom being mobilised at the height of the incident.

Four firefighters entered the property and brought the woman, found in a back bedroom, to safety.

A fire spokesman said the blaze broke out in a cupboard under the stairs and involved clothing and electrical items.

A joint police and fire investigation is underway into the cause of the fire.

The house remained cordoned off with police tape as the investigation gets underway.

The fire caused smoke damage to the property
