TRIBUTES have been paid to a woman who was a staunch supporter of a community food growing project in Tottington.

Jane Vesty, aged 46, died on April 6 after emergency services were called to her house in Laurel Street, Tottington.

Ms Vesty was taken to Fairfield Hospital where she died a short time later, and police have confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances.

Ms Vesty was involved with Incredible Edible, a voluntary organisation that tend a sensory garden, vegetable plots and fruit trees around Town Meadow and Station Yard.

Judith Kelly, group chairman, said: “Jane was a valued member of our group. She was involved in making Tottington a better place to live.

“Jane was part of Incredible Edible Tottington from the very beginning.

“She helped build our original vegetable plots, along with her children.

“She was a talented artist and painted us some fantastic signs and labels. Gorgeous vegetable and plant labels, painted onto slate, would appear wherever she had some spare time.

“Jane's pumpkin curry went down a treat at the Pumpkin Fest in 2012, and it was the most requested dish at last year’s event. She will be missed very much.”

An inquest into her death was opened by the Bury Coroner on Tuesday and adjourned until September.
